Here is another episode of a “Before & After Look at Building A Dream Home ” – this time our study/library.
The Before
As I wrote about in my previous post, “Building a Dream House: Trim Decisions“, this photo, from a WoodMode catalog, was my original inspiration for the study in our new home. I loved the pine woodwork and the general warmth the room exudes. I carried this photo in my building files for many years before actually putting my “inspiration photo” to use…
First, a quick look back at our study during the building process.
Some photos I took during the trim phase of our building process.
A photo taken when it came time to select stain and paint colors. A sample of the hardwood floor we planned on putting in the study sits below the wood stain sample.
A photo taken during the paint/stain phase of building. As I mentioned previously, we were quite pleased with both the trim crew and painters our builder, Jeff Paul (Jeff Paul Custom Homes) used.
Another photo I found inspiration from for our study – this one for fabric, specifically window treatments, and for the general feel of the room. I do apologize for the bad quality of the photo. It is a scan of the magazine picture I also carried in my files for years.
The After
Here’s a peek at our current study – still a work-in-progress.
These photos give an idea how our study turned out…
Photo showing my window treatments, in addition to, the left side of the study…
Photo with the light fixture we chose for the study which I showed in an earlier post, Building a Dream Home: Light Up Your Beautiful Home, before it was actually hung.
Special Note: I am not showing our entire study in this post. I plan on discussing the other walls to the study in a near future post, “What’s on Your Bookcase?”.
