Some info about our Gourmet Group*:  We enjoy cooking, entertaining, and most of all, each other’s company. 

We take turns hosting in our homes.  The host decides on the menu (theme) from appetizers to dessert for the evening.  The host prepares most of the meal, but gives at least one course to the others (along with all the recipes) to cook.  We love trying new recipes and ideas.  So most of the time the recipes are ones we haven’t cooked before, but they don’t have to be.

Special dedication:  This post is dedicated to SRC, one of our own*, who lost his battle with Stage 4 cancer last December 2019.  We miss you, Dear Friend – your love for people & for good food, and the big smile and spirit you carried with you.  Although your chair is empty at our table, your place is forever engrained in our hearts!

Back in February, another in our Gourmet Group hosted with a Bourbon-Themed Dinner Menu and Bourbon Tasting.  It was an evening of thorough enjoyment for all of us.

BOURBON TASTING / COCKTAILS

After being served a cocktail and catching up with each other, our host let us know it was time to Bourbon Taste!

Officially we were tasting 5 bourbons and whiskeys:  Jefferson’s, Four Roses, Woodford Reserve, Seagrams 7, and Maker’s Mark.  After our host provided us some interesting facts regarding bourbon (& whiskey), we did a blind tasting of each.

Even though I’m more of a wine drinker myself, I can tell you it was Great Fun as well as informative to Bourbon Taste.

Bourbon tasting was not the only delight our host treated us to that evening.  They also hired a private chef to cook the meal.  In lieu of us cooking, we were asked to bring a bottle of our favorite wine instead.
