EVOLUTION FROM AN ANNUAL PARTY TO A FUNDRAISER…
For several years, my son and a small group of his male friends hosted an annual “Fall Catalog Party” (fall-themed dress-up & “contest”, fall décor, spiced hot cider) inviting many of their friends. They would rotate apartments for hosting the party.
Sadly, one of the guys’ mother (from the host group) developed early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. So two years ago, this group of young men decided in place of their annual party to rent a public venue, and throw a fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Association with their “Fall Catalog Theme” ~ selling tickets, getting sponsors/donations, a silent auction, a live band, open bar, and even a photographer (think Red Carpet…).
This past November – the second year this fundraiser was held – they raised $45,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Quite impressive for twenty-something-year-olds!
